declared labour hero in capital
HA NOI — PetroVietnam
was made a Hero of Labour in Ha Noi yesterday.
President Nguyen Minh
Triet, who made the award, also presented the PetroVietnam-Vietsovpetro Joint
Venture general director Tran Le Dong with the title.
Eight others of the
State-owned group’s senior managers were honoured with Labour Medals, first
and second class.
The president warmly
congratulated the petroleum industry for its achievements and contributions to
the development of society, the economy, national construction and protection of
the country at the ceremony.
The title Hero of Labour
and other noble awards the State bestowed on the group; its working teams and
individuals affirmed petroleum as the economy’s key industry and contributor
to State revenue, he said.
The President asked
PetroVietnam to honestly acknowledge difficulties and shortcomings so that it
could quickly develop further.
The petroleum industry was
growing successfully with projects in many regions beyond Viet Nam, but the
Party, State and people wanted its development to become firmer and more
sustainable, he said.
The industry had to
prepare itself to satisfy the country’s requirements and tasks in a new
situation, he warned.
The world economy would
continue to fluctuate in unexpected ways this year and the industry had to fully
acknowledge its role, status and responsibilities to meet the Party, State and
PetroVietnam has set a
revenue target of VND212.5 trillion (US$12 billion) this year with a VND61.6
trillion ($3.5 billion) contribution to the State budget. — VNS
