magazine launches e-news website
HA NOI — An e-news
version of Van Hien Viet Nam magazine has been released at www.vanhien.net
with aim to meet the demand of its readers, especially those abroad, who
want to discover the traditional culture of Viet Nam, said Pham Viet Long,
editor-in-chief of the magazine.
During the experimental
process, the e-news shows all volumes published since 2005. Then, various
permanent columns of culture, art and research will be published.
Van Hien Viet Nam
magazine was published for the first time in 2000. The publication is available
in foreign countries, and is expected to be released in the US next year.
The electric version is
built by the Centre for Research, Conservation and Development of National
Culture in co-operation with Digital Telecommunication Technology Corporation.
artists return for special performance
HA NOI — A special music
performance with the theme of Tieng Hat Coi Nguon (Songs from the Root)
will be held at the National Convention Centre, Ha Noi on January 13.
The performance will
highlight various overseas artists such as Phi Nhung, Ai Van and Linda Trang
Dai, along with domestic singers such as Dam Vinh Hung, Quang Dung and Ho Ngoc
Miss World 2007 Zhang
Zilin and Miss World 2008 will attend the performance.
The programme will be
organised by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, Fund for Supporting and Mobilising
Overseas Vietnamese Community (FOVC), RASS Company and An Ninh The Gioi (World
Security) newspaper with total expense of VND1.2 billion (nearly US$71,500).
VN to collaborate on environmental research
HA NOI — Two training
courses on sea ecology and the environment will open for French and Vietnamese
researchers next March in Do Son District, Hai Phong City.
The project is being
organised by the Viet Nam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST), in
co-operation with National Centre of Scientific Research (CNRS), said VAST
director Chau Van Minh.
An event was held last
week to mark 25 years of co-operation between VAST and CNRS. To mark the
occasion, the French Embassy organised a conference on Monday under the theme
Scientific Policies at the French Cultural Centre, Ha Noi. — VNS
