Hà Nội registers record 1,612 total COVID infections, 14,977 cases confirmed nationwide on Monday

The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 1,612 coronavirus infections on Monday, its highest ever in a single update, with 14,977 cases confirmed nationwide.

HÀ NỘI — The capital city of Hà Nội recorded 1,612 coronavirus infections on Monday, its highest ever in a single update, with 14,977 cases confirmed nationwide.

The number of total transmissions in the country since the start of the pandemic now stands at 1,555,455, of which 1,549,945 came during the fourth wave that started on April 27.

The number of COVID-19 related fatalities reported on Monday was 225, with 56 deaths recorded in HCM City.

Only 11 cases were imported, with the remaining locally transmitted. A total of 9,000 new transmissions were detected in the community.

After Hà Nội, Bến Tre had the next highest number of infections with 985, followed by Cà Mau (967), Tây Ninh (947), Đồng Tháp (786), Cần Thơ (773) and Khánh Hòa (709).

HCM City recorded 687 cases.

The remaining infections were detected in Vĩnh Long (596), Bạc Liêu (552), Sóc Trăng (448), Bình Định (411), Tiền Giang (347), Hậu Giang (342), Trà Vinh (329), Kiên Giang (302), Đồng Nai (284), Hưng Yên (276), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu (273), An Giang (270), Thanh Hóa (246), Phú Yên (237), Thừa Thiên Huế (228), Bình Thuận (222), Bắc Ninh (212), Lâm Đồng (174), Bình Dương (155), Đà Nẵng (142), Quảng Ninh (136), Quảng Nam (129), Nghệ An (116), Gia Lai (97), Hải Phòng (95), Hà Giang (85), Bình Phước (78), Đắk Nông (63), Hòa Bình (59), Lạng Sơn (52), Ninh Thuận (50), Thái Bình (46), Long An (46), Nam Định (45), Vĩnh Phúc (44), Ninh Bình (39), Sơn La (34), Quảng Ngãi (31), Hải Dương (31), Quảng Bình (29), Quảng Trị (24), Hà Nam (21), Bắc Giang (21), Hà Tĩnh (16), Phú Thọ (16), Kon Tum (12), Thái Nguyên (10), Yên Bái (10), Tuyên Quang (9), Lào Cai (3), Cao Bằng (3), Điện Biên (3) and Lai Châu (1).

Việt Nam’s COVID death toll is now 29,791, about 2 per cent of total cases.

There are 7,615 COVID-19 patients nationwide who are in serious condition with the virus, including 906 requiring invasive ventilation and 22 on life support.

A further 1,937 patients were given the all-clear on Monday, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,109,899.
