Việt Nam reports 9,889 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday

Việt Nam reports a total of 9,889 new COVID-19 infections and 76 COVID-related deaths on Sunday.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam reported a total of 9,889 new COVID-19 infections and 76 COVID-related deaths on Sunday.

The country’s total caseload now stands at 1,094,514, of which 1,089,411 are the result of the fourth wave of infections that swept the country since late April.

HCM City recorded the highest daily case count with 1,265, followed by Bình Dương with 683 cases and Đồng Nai with 604 cases.

Authorities in Hà Nội reported 216 new cases.

Among today's new cases, seven were imported and 9,882 were local transmissions. A total of 5,361 infections were detected in the community.

The 76 COVID-related deaths were in Bình Dương (15), Long An (8), An Giang (7), Đồng Nai (7), Tiền Giang (6), Cần Thơ (6), Tây Ninh (5), Kiên Giang (5), Sóc Trăng (4), Bạc Liêu (4), Bình Thuận (3), Đồng Tháp (2), Vĩnh Long (2), Quảng Ngãi (1) and Cà Mau (1).

There have been 23,761 COVID-related fatalities in Việt Nam to date, or 2.2 per cent of total cases.

There are two provinces reporting no new cases in the past 14 days – Yên Bái and Bắc Kạn.

According to the Ministry of Health’s report, 4,971 patients nationwide are in a serious condition, with 458 requiring invasive ventilation and eight on life support (ECMO).

A further 5,163 patients were given the all-clear on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 905,500.

More than 107 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have now been administered in Việt Nam, with over 41 million people fully inoculated. VNS
