The Ba Ria Vung Tau Province will host the Tourism Festival 2015 in Vung Tau city as part of its effort to promote its economy and tourism, according to the province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The four day-event will open on February 27 and attract organisations and companies in HCM City and the provinces of Dong Nai, Vinh Long, Ben Tre, Bac Lieu and Tra Vinh provinces. The highlights include a food festival of 40 stalls featuring traditional dishes and specialities made by cooks from different regions.

Government funds pollution treatment
The mountainous provinces of Ha Giang and Lao Cai will receive financial support from the Government for environmental pollution treatment this year. Under the plan, Ha Giang will receive more than 21.2 billion (US$ 1 million) and 18.2 billion ($900,000) will go to Lao Cai. The provinces' projects on pollution treatment will be under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Number of registered motorbikes soars
The number of registered motorcycles in Viet Nam is now more than 43 million, seven million higher than the figure planned by 2020, according to the National Traffic Safety Committee. Under the plan, the number of motorcycles will be limited by administrative, economic and technical measures. Usage of public transportation will be encouraged.

City helps rural children
The HCM City's People's Committee has approved a project to help rural children and their families prevent natural disasters. The US$30,000-project is funded by the international organisation Save The Children. The project begins this month and will benefit around 2,300 children aged 14 and under, and 5,000 people affected by natural disasters and climate change in Can Gio District.
