SEOUL (VNS) — Vietnam News Agency (VNA) will do its utmost to promote ties with Yonhap News Agency (YNA) and mirror the progress made through the strategic partnership forged between Viet Nam and the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The statement was made by VNA General Director Nguyen Duc Loi during talks with YNA President Park Jung-chan in Seoul yesterday.
Loi backed the need for information exchange between the news agencies, along with human resources development and reforms in management mechanisms to overcome difficult current conditions.
Park said the relationship with VNA is one of his agency's most important global links and agreed to boost bilateral co-operation to make it a symbol of Asian news agency collaboration.
The two leaders stressed the necessity to improve the quality and efficiency of shared information and the importance of meeting the demand for up-to-date, precise and rich news in politics, economics, culture and science-technology.
Both sides agreed to instigate a language training course for Vietnamese and Korean correspondents.
Addressing a photograph exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Viet Nam–RoK diplomatic ties, Loi said the event demonstrates the co-operation between the two news agencies in the last two decades.
The exhibitiondisplays 58 photographs taken by photojournalists from both nations that outline the Vietnam-RoK comprehensive strategic partnership.
The event will run for 10 days and a similar show will take place in Ha Noi from December 14-24.-VNS
