HA NOI (VNS)— Three Vietnamese have been named in the World's Most Influential Scientific Minds: 2014, a new list of highly cited researchers in sciences and social sciences.

The list, compiled by Thomson Reuters, has Professor Dam Thanh Son, who teaches physics at the University of Chicago in the United States; Professor Nguyen Son Binh, who has researched and taught at the Northwestern University's chemistry faculty in the United States; and Associate Professor Nguyen Xuan Hung, lecturer at the University of HCM City. Hung is also listed among the best and brightest scientists in the field of computer science.

According to Thompson Reuters, the scientists have recently published at least 15 papers with high levels of citations.

The news agency says the 2014 list of "the hottest researchers" was identified by tabulating citations that were recorded during calendar year 2013 for papers published between 2011 and 2013.

The new list contains more than 3,000 highly cited researchers in 21 fields of sciences and social sciences. — VNS
