VN leaders bid farewell to outgoing envoys

HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday praised the contributions made by Chilean Ambassador to Viet Nam Ferrnando Jose Urrutia to consolidating and boosting comprehensive ties between Viet Nam and Chile.

Receiving the outgoing ambassador in Ha Noi, Dung said Viet Nam would join Chile's efforts to enhance bilateral co-operation, adding that the two countries should also support each other at international forums and increase high-level visits.

He called on Chile to support Viet Nam in negotiations for the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

The Chilean ambassador said that the FTA between Chile and Viet Nam was a milestone in bilateral relations that would increase trade between the two countries.

Also yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh received United Arab Emirates ambassador Khalid Ibrahim Abdulaziz Shohail Al-Qahtani and General Phung Quang Thanh, Minister of National Defence, bid farewell to outgoing Russian Ambassador Andrei Kovtun. — VNS
