HÀ NỘI — More than 500 citizens living in Europe, Africa and the Caribbean have been brought home to Việt Nam.

They arrived on two separate repatriation flights arranged by national carrier Vietnam Airlines on Thursday and Friday.

One flight saw around 270 passengers fly from a number of African countries and return home via Paris.

A second flight brought a similar number citizens homes from Cuba, picking up additional passengers in Germany.

Strict health regulations were enforced on both flights.

In total, 540 people have returned home, and all were immediately quarantined after landing at Đà Nẵng and Vân Đồn International Airports.

On board the two flights were children under the age of 18, students who had completed their study courses, the elderly and the sick people, stranded tourists and labourers, whose visas or contracts expired.

Following Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc’s directions, Vietnamese authorities and representative agencies abroad are building plans to repatriate more citizens based on their aspirations and the quarantine capacity at home. — VNS
