HÀ NỘI — Several Vietnamese footballers are testing the waters for club careers abroad ahead of the new V.League season.

Midfielders Martin Lo and Huỳnh Công Đến of the V.League 2's Phố Hiến FC on Tuesday took part in a tryout at the Fukuda Denshi Arena, home ground of JEF United Ichihara in Chiba, Japan.

The event, organised by the Japan Pro-footballers Association and the J.League, is a chance for the players to show their talents to Japanese clubs' scouts.

Lo and Đến will return to Việt Nam today and await any interest in their services.

In 2013, Hà Nội T&T's Phạm Đức Huy and Đỗ Duy Mạnh took part in a similar tryout.

In other news, local media reported midfielder Nguyễn Tuấn Anh of Hoàng Anh Gia Lai had been invited for a trial with La Liga's Deportivo Alaves.

La Liga's manager for Việt Nam business development Brian Wright Vias told media that after watching Anh's performances, he contacted him before sending his documents to Alaves, who then extended an invitation.

If both two sides reached an agreement, Anh would have his trial in late January to early February, Vias said.

However, neither Anh nor his current club have confirmed the news.

Anh said he appreciated Alaves's offer if there was one but he has not received anything yet. Meanwhile an official of Hoàng Anh Gia Lai said the club did not want to talk about the issue yet and Anh was in the team's plan for the new season.
