HA TINH (VNS) — Two Korean managers at Formosa's construction site, where a scaffold collapsed claiming 13 lives late March, were arrested this morning, said the police of the central province of Ha Tinh.

Lee Jae-myeong, 62, and Kim Jong-wook, 43, will be prosecuted for violating labour safety regulations.

Lee was the manager of labourers working on two scaffolds Lane 1 and 2 at Son Duong Port in Formosa area in Vung Ang economic zone, while Kim headed a manufacturing site there.

Police investigations have revealed that before the accident occurred, Lee kept asking his men to resume work on Lane 2, although the scaffolding was shaking and swinging back and forth.

Kim too gave the same order at his manufacturing site nearby.

The scaffolding collapsed shortly, killing 13 and injuring 29. – VNS
