It has called on culture, sports and tourism departments in provinces to help tourism associations run promotional programmes and improve services to stimulate local travel.

Thanh Hoa honours heroic seamen
The Thanh Hoa Province People's Committee on Tuesday awarded certificates of merit to six men for saving the lives of 19 people who were aboard a sinking boat fishing for oyster at sea off Da Loc commune in Hau Loc District on April 24.
Nguyen Van Binh, 51, Nguyen Van Hoa, 30, Nguyen Van Tan, 29, Do Van Manh, 27, Do Van Hanh, 25, and Mai Van Tan, 21, also helped search for the body of a 20th person, Vu Thi Mui, 59, who was stuck in the vessel.

Da Nang sets up fund to support fishermen
The Da Nang city People's Committee has set up a charity fund to help fishermen who are threatened by natural calamities and enemy-inflicted damages.
The fund, which will solicit donations, is to help the fishermen improve storage facilities on their boats for seafood, buy fishing equipment, provide them training, and buy larger vessels for fishing offshore.

Binh Duong announces support for businesses
The People's Committee of the southern province of Binh Duong has unveiled policies to support businesses affected by the riots in May.
Thirty seven businesses are exempt from paying tax and are exempt from paying rent for land and facilities or will get discounts on them. The assistance is equivalent to VND285.9 billion (US$13.5 million).
