HCMC – The public security ministry yesterday arrested the person who caused the power outage at the HCM City Area Control Centre (ACC HCM) in Tan Son Nhat Airport on November 20.

The accused, named Le Tri Tinh, was the captain of the technical team that was assigned to resolve technical issues that could arise during that day.

Tinh's team had to operate the generator system, comprising three generators and three uninterrupted power supply (UPS) machines, with scheduled checks, and cut the power provided by the national electricity network.

All three generators ran properly. However, the three UPS machines broke down five minutes later. The technicians were supposed to disconnect the UPS machines for repair, but had not completed the work even after 20 minutes.

The team captain, Le Tri Tinh, then shut down the three UPS machines improperly and caused the power outage at the control centre.

Twenty minutes later, the problem was fixed and the control centre system started functioning normally.

The transport and the public security ministries have investigated the incident and suspended those related to the incident. – VNS
