QUANG NINH (VNS) — Bai Chay tourist harbour will stop operating from January 1, 2016, according to a decision by the People's Committee of Quang Ninh Province.

Following the decision No 4036 on the developmental planning of the national inland water transportation issued today, the province decided to exclude Bai Chay harbour from the planning of the harbour and pier systems that serve the tourism initiatives of Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay.

Five other harbours and piers have been approved for adjustment and improvement, including Hon Gai international harbour, Hon Gai pier, Coc 3 harbour, Nam Cau Trang harbour and Vung Duc harbour.

Previously, the department of transportation had decided to use Tuan Chau international harbour to serve all tourist visits to Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay as well as making it a hub for international water transportation.
