Quang Ngai gives $1.85m to support fisheries

The People's Committee of the central province of Quang Ngai said that its chairman, Le Viet Chu, has signed a decision to support fisheries and fish farming at sea and fishing services.

The Government has provided VND39 billion (US$1.85 million) for the purpose, most of which will be used for fuel while the rest will be used to pay insurance premiums for boats, crew, and communications equipment.

Agricultural imports top $3b

Viet Nam imported agricultural products worth US$3 billion in the first seven months of the year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Cattle feed imports cost $1.95 billion, a 10.7 per cent rise year-on-year.

Corn imports saw the strongest rise, as 2.62 million tonnes were bought for $681 million, respectively an increase of 2.4 and 1.9 times.

Inventories rise in manufacturing sector

The General Statistics Office announced that inventories in the processing and manufacturing industries rose by 13.2 per cent year-on-year as of July 1.

The average inventory rate in the two industries had been 77.2 per cent in the first half of this year.

The sectors with the highest inventory rates are pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical chemicals with 161.2 per cent, chemicals with 127.1 per cent, and food processing with 98.2 per cent.
