HA NOI (VNS)— President Truong Tan Sang has praised female entrepreneurs for expanding their businesses and contributing to the nation's development, despite great challenges posed by the domestic and global economic downturn.

He made the statement yesterday in Ha Noi while meeting 100 outstanding businesswomen who won the "Golden Rose" Cup hosted by the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).

He also lauded the VCCI's idea to organise the event, which seeks to honour outstanding women who have helped in fuelling the nation's economic development, industrialisation and modernisation, while encouraging and recognising the accomplishments of female entrepreneurs.

President Sang said he hopes that such occasions will become an opportunity for participants to share their experiences and speak of their initiatives and proposals in seeking more appropriate policies from the Party and State.

During the meeting held to mark the upcoming International Women's Day (March 8), the President also viewed the work of the Female Entrepreneur Council under the VCCI, as well as the success of businesswomen during this difficult economic period. — VNS
