HCM CITY — Antonin Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 ("From the New World"), often known as the New World symphony, will be performed by the HCM City symphony orchestra at the city’s Opera House at 8pm at 7 Lam Sơn Square in District 1 on March 9.

Dvorak’s ninth symphony is considered by some as "one of the most beloved works of all time". A recording of the symphony was brought by astronaut Neil Armstrong on Apollo 11’s trip to the moon.

The conductor and Meritorious Aritst Trần Vương Thạch will lead the orchestra.

The programme for the night will also feature the music of American Leroy Anderson, who included tango, waltz, and jazz elements in his work.

Tickets are VNĐ300,000 (US$14) to VNĐ650,000 ($30). — VNS
