New album with 70 artists celebrates Lunar New Year

 HCM CITY — A DVD with performances from more than 70 singers, dancers, musicians and theatre artists has been released to celebrate Tết (Lunar New Year), which begins on February 16.   

The DVD, Gala Nhạc Việt-Về Nhà Đón Tết (Vietnamese Music Gala – Coming Home for Tết- Lunar New Year), features songs, dances and theatrical performances in praise of country, soldiers, love and Spring.

Veteran singers Đan Trường and Cẩm Ly sing folk songs featuring traditional culture and lifestyles, while young pop stars Soobin Hoàng Sơn, Bùi Anh Tuấn and Văn Mai Hương together sing pop, dance and electronic music.

New faces Ái Phương, Min and Gin Tuấn Kiệt perform top hits such as Phút Giao Thừa Lặng Lẽ (Last Minute on New Year’s Eve), Đi Bên Em Mùa Xuân (Living with You in Spring), Đi Để Trở Về (Go Away and Come Back).

“Our work is of high quality in both music and and visual content. We hope it sends best wishes to Vietnamese at home and abroad during Tết,” said singer Phương, winner of the Làn Sóng Xanh (Green Wave) prize for young talented singer awarded by the Voice of HCM City in 2015. 

On the DVD, cải lương (reformed theatre) actors from the Trần Hữu Trang Theatre perform two and three-act comedies highlighting love and traditional family values. 

Featured performances include contemporary dance groups from HCM City Youth Cultural  House dressed in traditional Vietnamese áo dài designed by top fashion designers.—VNS
