Liêm draws with Wang Hao in Chinese Chess League Division

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Grandmaster Lê Quang Liêm drew with Wang Hao of China in the sixth round of the 2019 Chinese Chess League Division A on Wednesday.

Liêm, who has an Elo rating of 2704, is competing for China’s Jiangsu team in this event. While Wang (Elo 2735) plays for Guangdong.

Despite Liêm’s draw, his team still lost to Guangdong 3-2.

Earlier, Liêm lost to a relatively unknown rival, Nie Xinyang of Fengdu, in the fifth round.

The former world blitz chess champion Liêm will next take on Zhao Jun of Shantung.

The 2019 Chinese Chess League Division A is a 12-team double round-robin competition featuring most of the top Chinese players. It takes place from April to November. — VNS
