HÀ NỘI — A delegation of 70 enterprises from Hong Kong will visit Việt Nam to seek cooperation with Vietnamese firms on March 21, 2018 in HCM City.

Those Hong Kong businesses specialise in finance, education, architecture, law, textiles, electronics components and footwear products.

The event will be organised by the Investment and Trade Promotion Centre of HCM City when the minister of commerce and economic development of Hong Kong, Edward Yau Tang-wah, visits the city.

This is a bridge to help businesses in HCM City meet and seek opportunities for business development and investment cooperation with investors from Hong Kong.

Trade exchanges between Việt Nam and Hong Kong have been steadily increasing in the recent years. As of early September 2017, Việt Nam is Hong Kong’s third largest trading partner in the ASEAN region, with a bilateral trade turnover of over US$13 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12 per cent. Of which, Hong Kong exported products worth $7.4 billion to Việt Nam and imported goods worth $5.7 billion. The main trade items between the two sides include telecommunications equipment and components, semiconductors, valves and electronic tubes, knitted fabrics and knitting tools.

Regarding investment, as of 20 March 2017, Hong Kong is the sixth largest investor in Việt Nam, with more than 1,200 investment projects and a total registered capital of more than $17.57 billion. — VNS
