Foreign ship rescues six Vietnamese crewmen

HAI PHONG — The Marshall Islands' Hub Sterllar rescued six Vietnamese crewmen whose vessel had been rammed off the coast of Da Nang City on July 3.

The ship took them to the northern port city of Hai Phong yesterday.

On July 3, BDD 50819 from the central province of Binh Dinh was hit and sunk by a vessel 15 nautical miles from Da Nang. All six crewmen wearing life-vests had to abandon their ship.

On the morning of Monday, they were rescued by the Hub Sterllar which was travelling from Singapore to Hai Phong.

Honest lottery seller returns lost $6,240

LONG AN — A lottery seller, Quach Van Tuan, handed a bag containing assets worth VND120 million (US$6,240) to police in southern Long An Province's Ben Luc District on Monday.

The finder found the bag on a road. It contained $1,500 and VND2 million ($104) in cash and more than 100 grams of gold.

The police found and gave back the bag to its owner in southern Tay Ninh Province on the same day. — VNS
