Foot, mouth disease infects animals in Cao Bang

Update: February, 15/2014 - 09:26

CAO BANG (VNS)— Foot-and-mouth disease has been reported in northern border Cao Bang Province, affecting 353 buffaloes and 212 cows at 13 communes.

The disease has spread among animals in recent days due to the cold weather and the increasing movement of livestock from affected areas after the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, according to the provincial Animal Health Department.

Local animal health officials have taken measures to prevent the further spread of the disease, including sterilising hot spots and tightening control over moving animals, as well as vaccinating local animals. — VNS
