ĐIỆN BIÊN — Four people are under arrest after police smashed two separate drug smuggling rings.

Heroin, ketamine and thousands of ecstasy tablets have been recovered.

Điện Biên Police on Sunday said they arrested local man Hoàng Thanh Trung, 48, who admitted smuggling 1.3kg of heroin and 6,000 tablets of ecstasy.

Trung told police that he had bought the drugs from a stranger in border area of Việt Nam and Laos. He was caught on his way of bringing the heroin to inland for sale.

Also on Sunday, Nghệ An Police said they had caught three drugs traffickers with a kilo of ketamine.

The accused are Nguyễn Thị Phương, 34, from Nghệ An Province, Trịnh Xuân Trường, 47, from Nam Định Province and Phạm Lý Vũ Duy, 36, from Bạc Liêu Province.

The Nghệ An Police last month discovered a ring illegally transporting drugs from the province to other provinces and cities for sale.
