HA NOI (VNS) — The use of advanced technology in medical examination and treatment would be a top priority of the health sector in the coming years.

This was stated at Bach Mai Hospital's 30th medical symposium that was held today in Ha Noi.

"Developing skilled human resources along with investment in advanced medical facilities will be important foundations for the country's leading hospitals to improve the quality of examination and treatment," Deputy Minister of Health Le Quang Cuong said.

"Many important scientific research projects, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, COPD and drug prevention projects, have been successfully implemented in Bach Mai Hospital, saving the lives of thousands of patients in Viet Nam," Cuong said.

He said successful research in clinical diagnosis and treatment should be expanded to other hospitals nationwide.

The participants of the symposium will hear more than 130 scientific reports, especially projects on the application of high-tech in cancer treatment, heart surgery, in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) and emergency aid.

They will also discuss and exchange scientific research and update clinical knowledge with the aim of improving examination and treatment quality. — VNS
