Delta plans green tourism week

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh has approved a proposal by the Southwest Steering Committee to host the Mekong Delta Green Tourism Week 2015 from June 18-24.

The Tourism Week will feature seminars on co-operation among localities, a trade fair and an investment promotion. The event is expected to attract local and foreign enterprises from Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar and Laos, according to the organisers.


An Giang exports hit $79m in January

Exports of the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of An Giang reached US$79.6 million in January, a rise of 21.65 per cent over the same period last year.

Of the figure, exports from the state sector increased by 18.3 per cent, from the private sector 21.51 per cent, and the FDI sector 31.67 per cent.

The province's key export items include rice, textiles and garments, frozen fruits and vegetables.


Hue greets cruise passengers

The central province of Thua Thien - Hue on Thursday welcomed 2,500 international tourists and crew members from the luxury Celebrity Century cruise (from Malta) that arrived at the Chan May port in Phu Loc District, according to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

The Celebrity Century cruise, designed as a luxury five-star hotel, carries passengers to well known tourist destinations in Asia Pacific.

It is estimated that 42 international tourism cruises will arrive at Chan May port this year, up from 34 last year, which shows positive signs for the tourism sector in the province, according to the department.
