ĐẮK LẮK — Areas in the Buôn Ma Thuột City in the Central Highland province of Đắk Lắk were placed under lockdown late Monday after two people from the same family tested positive for COVID-19.

The social distancing measures will be implemented until August 16 with residents advised to stay indoors as much as they can, and only to go out for food and medicine or other essential services.

Residents are advised to stay indoors as much as they can, and only to go out for food, medicine or other essential services. People are required to wear face masks outdoors and must keep a distance of at least two metres from person to person.

Non-essential businesses, activities of religions, culture, sports and entertainment at public areas have all suspended.

Border Guard Command is asked to co-operate with local authorities to tighten control across the Việt Nam–Cambodia border to quickly prevent and detect illegal crossings.

Coach-operators have been asked to organise only one trip on each route daily and use half of the available seats on the coaches. The number of passengers on a coach must not exceed 20.

The number of buses departing/arriving the city is also halved and the number of passengers on each bus must be less than half of available seats as well as no more than 20 people.

People using taxis in the city must wear face masks, use hand sanitiser and report information including name, address, phone number and the time and destination of their trips.

The areas under lockdown include part of Hoàng Diệu Street from Hoàng Diệu – Lý Thường Kiệt intersection to Hoàng Diệu-Hai Bà Trưng Intersection in Thắng Lợi Ward; Hamlet 43/15 Ama Khê Street in Tân Lập Ward; Hamlet 13/2/9 Nguyễn Văn Cừ Street; the area surrounding house at No 101 National Highway 14 in Hoà Thuận Commune.
