Muscat, Oman – The Sun World Fansipan Legend (Sa Pa, Lào Cai) complex of Sun Group was honoured as the World's Leading Cultural Tourist Attraction 2019 at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2019 ceremony. The award category included four other big names, including Guggenheim Bilbao, Sagrada Família Museum from Spain and Vatican, Venice Museum from Italy.

The award is a recognition not only for Sun Group only but also for local tourism, as the developer has successfully preserved northwestern Vietnamese culture.

This is the second time Sun World Fansipan Legend was named at WTA 2019. Last October it was honoured as “Việt Nam's Leading Tourist Attraction 2019”.

Founded in 1993, the World Travel Awards are designed to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.

Delighted at this special event, Nguyễn Xuân Chiến, Director of Sun World Fansipan Legend said: “We are dedicated to preserving and bringing Viet Nam’s indigenous culture to international tourists. We will continue to strive to deserve this recognition.”

Sun World Fansipan Legend was built and put into operation by Sun Group in 2016. The resort recreates a miniature northwest on the mountainside among the majestic nature of Hoàng Liên Sơn mountain range. After a short time, it has become the most attractive destination in the north of Viet Nam.

When coming here, whether it's winter or summer, visitors will experience the most traditional way of the local highlanders’ life. They can see H’Mong people gather at markets to sell local specialties; enjoy special pan-pipes performance by H’Mong young men and colourful dance show of young ladies; and taste irresistible local special foods like bamboo sticky rice, Thắng Cố (made of horse meat and intestines), sausages, five-colour sticky rice and smoked buffalo meat.

With a series of four-season festivals and events displaying the northwest’s traditional culture, food and landscapes, Sun World Fansipan Legend has brought the whole Northwest region to life, making it lively and colourful in the eyes of visitors.

Sun World Fansipan Legend is also a religious destination for Buddhists and tourists. Stretching from the mountainside to the magnificent Fansipan peek, the temples and pagodas feature architecture and design from the 15th and 16th centuries, just like they were hundreds of years ago. When spring comes, millions of tourists make their way here to honour the gods and pray for health and prosperity. In the autumn with Vu Lan Festival, the place draws people to come and express gratitude and appreciation to their parents.

Northwest cultural and spiritual activities are also boosted by the unique “Dancing on the cloud” performance, which is produced by director Pham Hoang Nam and other top northwest-culture artists. The show, presenting the best of the northwest, is ingeniously performed to tell the tale of the region, which guides audiences back to nature and peace in the arms of the Hoang Lien Mountains.

The efforts of Sun Group at Sun World Fansipan Legend have made Sa Pa “a magnet of tourism” and helped the site win the “World’s Leading Cultural Tourist Attraction” at the World Travel Awards 2019. The award means northwestern culture has been introduced to a wide range of tourists and helps Lao Cai shine in the global tourism industry.

The world’s recognition for Sun World Fansipan Legend proves that doing tourism wholeheartedly and passionately based on local culture will produce unique, sustainable products for the market and create the most attractive sites that everyone would want to visit.
