Sun Group enjoys major haul of honors at World Travel Awards Asia and World Luxury Hotels Awards 2019

A total of 21 prizes awarded to projects developed by Sun Group at the World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania 2019 in Phu Quoc and the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2019 in Rovaniemi, Finland.

Sun Group proudly flew the flag for all of Vietnam at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia & Oceania and World Luxury Hotel Awards (WLHA), which were both held on October 12, 2019.

In total, the WTA Asia & Oceania and WLHA handed out 21 awards to six luxury hotels and resorts, two entertainment and resort complexes, and one transport infrastructure project (Van Don International Airport), all of which were developed by Sun Group as part of the developer’s strategic vision to raise Vietnam’s profile by creating world class tourism products and delivering key infrastructures.

Accordingly, six hotels and resorts developed by Sun Group, were honored at both ceremonies across a range of categories: Hotel De La Coupole – MGallery in Sa Pa (Lao Cai), Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills (Danang), Premier Village Danang Resort, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Danang), and Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort (Phu Quoc) all landed prizes.

Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery, a masterpiece of design from Bill Bensley, was named in many important categories: “Vietnam’s Leading Luxury Hotel 2019”, “Asia’s Leading Hotel 2019”, “Asia’s Leading New Hotel 2019”, and “Asia’s Leading Design Hotel 2019” by WTA Asia & Oceania; and “Global Luxury Architecture Design Hotel” by WLHA.

Hotel de la Coupole - MGallery, Sapa.

Located in the heavenly mountains of Sapa in north Vietnam, the glamorous Hotel de la Coupole resembles a luxurious European palace from the early 20th century. Also designed by Bill Bensley, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay in Phu Quoc was honored by WTA Asia & Oceania 2019 as: “Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort and Spa” and “Vietnam’s Leading Resort”. In winning these two awards, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay will continues to make a major contribution to elevating tourism in southern Phu Quoc to a whole new level. The design narrative, which was developed around the concept of a mythical academy of learning,  has already become a premier destination for elite travelers, who are also treated to immaculate services and breathtaking scenery on the southern coast of Phu Quoc Island. 

As the latest project to be developed by Sun Group on Phu Quoc Island, Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort is also set in an unbelievable location, nestled on a lush peninsula with beaches and sea views on all sides. Guests here can enjoy a truly unique experience as they can watch the serene sunrise and stunning sunset from the exact same spot. Thanks to its wonderful location, outstanding design and services,  the resort was named: “Asia's Leading Villa Resort 2019” and “Vietnam’s Leading Villa Resort 2019” by WTA Asia & Oceania; “Asia Luxury Villa Resort” by WLHA.

A perennial favourite at the WTA, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Danang) was honored in six categories this year: “Vietnam's Leading Luxury Resort 2019”, “Asia's Leading Luxury Resort 2019”, “Asia's Leading Green Resort 2019”, “Asia's Leading Luxury Hotel Villa 2019”, “Asia's Leading Luxury Wedding Resort 2019”, and “Asia's Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant 2019” for La Maison 1888, the resort’s signature restaurant.

Offering easy relaxation for families and friends alike, Premier Village Danang Resort managed by AccorHotels (Danang) won at WLHA in the category “South East Asia Luxury Family Beach Resort”. This prestigious award recognizes the resort is an excellent choice for a satisfying Danang vacation. Every one of its villas comes with a fully-equipped kitchen, private swimming pool, garden, spacious bedrooms and bathrooms to let guests immerse themselves into a world of leisure.

Offering a taste of France on the top of Ba Na, Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills has been honored as the “Luxury Romantic Hotel” by WLHA 2018. With magnificent views of this ‘miniature Europe’ from Nui Chua (God’s Mountain), Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills never fails to create an emotional connection with its guests. Being recognized as “Asia Luxury Honeymoon Hotel” by WLHA 2019 is an acknowledgement of Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills’ unique appeal.

Along with all of the awards for its hotels and resorts, two major tourism and entertainment complexes developed by Sun Group in Sapa and Danang – namely, Sun World Fansipan Legend and Sun World Ba Na Hills – have also been honored as “Vietnam’s Leading Tourist Attraction 2019” and “Vietnam’s Leading Theme Park 2019” respectively by WTA Asia & Oceania.

WTA Asia & Oceania also named Van Don International Airport, developed by Sun Group in Quang Ninh province, with a hugely prestigious prize: “Asia’s Leading New Airport”. Receiving this award is an honor, not only for Sun Group and Quang Ninh province, but also for the Vietnamese aviation industry — it is the first time a Vietnamese airport has won an award at WTA.
