HCM CITY — Police have taken former deputy chairman of HCM City’s People’s Committee Nguyễn Hữu Tín into custody over alleged wrongdoings in the management of State assets.

Đào Anh Kiệt, former head of the city’s resource and environment department, and Trương Văn Út, head of the city’s land management unit, were also arrested under similar charges.

The three allegedly aided real-estate mogul Phan Văn Anh Vũ, who was sentenced to nine years in prison in July, in his shady business dealings, said a police source.

The source confirmed the arrest of the three former city’s officials was part of an investigation into violations and mismanagement of State assets, namely the properties at 15 Thi Sách Street and 2, 4 and 6 Hai Bà Trưng Street in District 1, HCM City. — VNS
