HÀ NỘI – Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc yesterday praised the dedication of outgoing Bulgarian Ambassador Evgueni Stefanov Stoytchev to boosting Việt Nam-Bulgaria relations.

Receiving the Bulgarian envoy who’d come to bid the PM farewell, Phúc also thanked Bulgaria for its support in recent years, particularly in training thousands of Vietnamese undergraduates and postgraduates.

He proposed that Bulgaria, as the European Union’s rotational Chair from January 2018, supports Việt Nam in deepening ties with the EU and push for the early signing and ratification of the EU-Việt Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).

The relations between the two countries have made significant progress but was yet to match the potential on both sides, he said, adding that he hopes their co-operation will be accelerated in all fields.

He also hoped that, with his experience and knowledge of Việt Nam, the ambassador will continue to cultivate friendship between the two nations.

Ambassador Stoytchev highlighted the long-standing friendship between Việt Nam and Bulgaria and expressed his appreciation for the support his mission received from Vietnamese ministries, agencies and local governments.

Việt Nam has been and will continue to be Bulgaria’s key partner in Southeast Asia, he said.

He agreed that there are still  a lot of potential for the two countries to tap in trade and investment and looked forward to firms from both sides getting more opportunities to expand this partnership. — VNS
