Leaders convey condolences over Jakarta bombing

HA NOI (VNS) — President Truong Tan Sang and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung yesterday sent messages of condolences to Indonesian President Joko Widodo over the deaths and injuries caused by a series of terror bombings and gunfire in downtown Jakarta on the previous day.

On the same day, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also conveyed sympathy to Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi.

Seven explosions rang out near Sarinah shopping mall while a gunfight between the attackers and police took place right in front of the mall on Thursday.

Seven people were reported killed, and 20 others injured during the attacks.

No Vietnamese have been reported to be killed or injured so far. — VNS
