HA NOI (VNS) — The recent construction of two border markers along the Viet Nam – Cambodia border was significant to the countries' border demarcation, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Le Hai Binh said at a regular press conference yesterday.
Binh said border markers No. 30 and No. 275 were agreed by the Vietnamese and Cambodian governments.
Marker No. 30 is located between the Le Thanh and Oya Dao border gates in Vietnam's Gia Lai Province and Cambodia's Rattanakiri Province.
Marker No. 275 is positioned between the Tinh Bien and Phnom Den border gates in Viet Nam's An Giang Province and Cambodia's Takeo Province.
A 450 metre road linking the two check points in Le Thanh and Oya Dao was also built at the same time.
The work is part of the Treaty on the Delimitation of National Boundaries between the two countries signed on December 27, 1985, and the Supplementary Treaty to the 1985 Treaty signed on October 10, 2005.
The two border markers were part of a memorandum of understanding inked on April 23, 2011, the spokesman noted.
The completion of the markers played an important part in a shared border of peace, friendship and co-operation between Viet Nam and Cambodia, he added. — VNS
