HA NOI (VNS) — Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received a visiting Lao delegation led by Politburo member and Deputy Prime Minister Somsavad Lengsavad in Ha Noi on Monday.
During their talks, the Vietnamese leaders congratulated Laos on its recent achievements and expressed their respect for the special relationship between the two nations.
They thanked the Lao Party, State and people for their valuable support and assistance during the struggle for national liberation as well as national construction and development.
They said Viet Nam would join Laos's efforts to preserve and foster the two countries' special solidarity in a deep, practical and effective manner, contributing to peace, stability, co-operation and development in the region and the world at large.
The Vietnamese leaders urged close co-ordination between the two sides to implement agreements reached by high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and States, as well as careful preparations for the upcoming 38th meeting of the Viet Nam-Laos Inter-Government Committee.
For his part, the Lao Deputy PM expressed his belief that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Viet Nam, the Vietnamese people would continue to reap successes in their reform process and at Viet Nam's 12th National Party Congress scheduled for early 2016.
He added that Laos would work together with Viet Nam to develop their traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive co-operation. — VNS
