HCM CITY (VNS) — Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong congratulated businesspeople across the country on the 11th Viet Nam Entrepreneurs' Day (October 13), assuring them all possible support for their growth.
The Party chief met 129 outstanding entrepreneurs recently honoured by the HCM City's People's Committee and the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the southern city yesterday, ahead of the 10th meeting of the municipal Party Congress for the 2015-2020 tenure.
The Party and State appreciated the role the business community played in the nation's construction and development, he said. The community had grown over time, working effectively across various fields inside and outside the country.
He reminded them of opportunities and challenges that lay ahead, considering the new bilateral and new-generation free trade agreements at play. He said he hoped they would branch out into new areas and markets, create more jobs and engage in social activities.
The leader assured that the Party and State would advocate for more comprehensive reform, with a focus on fine-tuning socialist-oriented economic mechanisms and improving the business climate.
Concluding the speech, he wished them further success in the future.
In 2014 and first half of 2015, 129 local businesses generated VND650 trillion(US$29.5 billion), creating more than 155,000 jobs. They contributed VND21 trillion ($954.5 million) to the State budget.
Huynh Van Minh, chairman of the HCM City Union of Business Associations (HUBA), underscored the significance of Viet Nam Entrepreneurs' Day, which started 11 years ago. He said this reflected the Party's and State's encouragement to its contingent of domestic entrepreneurs.
Since October 13, 2014, thousands of outstanding businesses and business owners had been honoured, he added.
