HA NOI (VNS) — The preparation of personnel and the numbers and allocation of delegates to the 12th Party Congress next year topped the agenda at the Party Central Committee's 11th meeting, which opened yesterday.
During the four-day meeting, Party Central Committee members will also discuss the model of local governments, the construction of the Long Thanh International Airport project in the southern province of Dong Nai and the reports on what has been resolved since the 10th plenum in January this year.
Speaking at the opening session, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong emphasised the important tasks of poring over Party draft documents and personnel plan in line with Party statute before submitting them to the 12th Congress next year.
At this plenum, the Party Central Committee should give opinions on personnel plan to build a firm foundation for the key positions in the new Party Central Committee, Politburo, Secretariat, Party leader and the Party Central Committee's Inspection Commission in the 2016-21 work period, Trong said.
"This is an important task that decides the future of the Party and the nation's development," he said.
The Party leader said the PCC to be elected in the 12th Party Congress next year should play its political leading role with a strong spirit of solidarity and consensus for the Party and the nation as a whole.
The selected personnel must also be those who put the Party and the nation above everything, he said.
Regarding local government, Trong said the reform and completion of a model for localities played an important role in the country's reform process, and helped enhance the effectiveness of a Socialist law-governed country.
He also said the participants should discuss the necessity and feasibility of the Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province and reach a conclusion which will work as a guideline for the National Assembly to decide on the project.
Trong also urged all PCC members to fulfill all tasks assigned with their highest responsibility to make the 11th plenum a great success.
