HA NOI (VNS) – Chairman of Viet Nam's National Assembly, Nguyen Sinh Hung, has assured the Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General and UN Assistant Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, that Viet Nam would do its best to ensure the success of the 132nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.
Meeting Mohammed in Ha Noi yesterday, the chairman said the meting was expected to adopt a Ha Noi Declaration, contributing to the agenda of the 70th UN General Assembly slated for mid-2015.
Hung said Viet Nam spared no effort to implement development goals and contribute to the UN's development since it became a full member.
Mohammed praised Viet Nam's careful preparation for the assembly and expressed her hope that the Assembly would adopt a concrete plan of action, thus contributing to developing and implementing development goals after 2015.
She spoke highly of the agenda of the IPU-132, saying that the outcomes of the event, specifically the Ha Noi Declaration, will serve as the foundation for co-operation between the IPU and the UN in realising Sustainable Development Goals. — VNS
