Global leaders congratulate Vietnamese Party

HA NOI (VNS)— Leaders from China, Russia, Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) congratulated Viet Nam on the 85th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Viet Nam(CPV) yesterday.

In its congratulatory message, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) expressed its belief that under the leadership of the CPV led by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Viet Nam would successfully realise its renewal cause and welcomed the 12th National Party Congress.

The CPC held the China – Viet Nam relationship in high esteem and considered it an important part of the two Parties, countries and peoples, it said.

It pledged to push the bilateral friendship forward under the motto: "friendly neighbours, comprehensive co-operation, long-term stability and future visions", and in the spirit of "good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners".

President of the United Russia Party D.A. Medvedev, who is also Russian Prime Minister, said broader co-ordination between the United Russia Party and the CPV would solidify the Russia – Viet Nam comprehensive strategic partnership.

First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Council of State and President of the Council of Ministers Raul Castro Ruz also conveyed his warmest congratulations to leaders, Party members and the people of Viet Nam.

He said he looked forward to future collaboration to boost socialism, build the Party, and foster fraternal ties between the two Parties, governments and peoples.

First Secretary of the Workers' Party of the DPRK Kim Jong-un believed that the friendship and co-operation between the two Parties and peoples, fostered by generations of leaders, would work progressively for the victory of socialism.

Other leaders from countries and major political parties worldwide sent New Year greetings to General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam Nguyen Phu Trong on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) Festival.

The well-wishers included General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party's Central Committee and State President Choummaly Sayasone; Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni; General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping; President of the United States Barack Obama; President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-hye; Cuban leader Fidel Castro; Prime Minister and President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan Shinzo Abe; Prime Minister and Secretary-General of the People's Action Party of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong; and President of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov.

In the letters, they spoke of the leading role of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and its international position and reputation and treasured their relationship with the Party. They also noted the country's reforms and diplomatic achievements over the years.

General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong expressed thanks and extended his New Year wishes to the senders in turn. — VNS
