HA NOI (VNS)— Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Ha Noi yesterday for visiting member of Japan's House of Representatives Kawai Katsuyuki.
At the meeting, the Deputy PM said Viet Nam valued and wished to develop the comprehensive co-operative partnership with Japan, which was one of the top priorities in the country's foreign policy.
He thanked Japan for providing Official Development Assistance (ODA) to Viet Nam and reiterated the country's commitment to using the funding in the most efficient way.
He also asked leaders of both the Senate and House of Representatives in the Japanese parliament to continue their ODA provision for Viet Nam.
Phuc further said he wanted the two countries to strengthen their co-ordination at international and regional forums, while boosting bilateral people-to-people exchanges, particularly among the younger generation.
In return, Katsuyuki, who is former Chairman of the House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs Committee, praised the flourishing relations between the two countries.
He expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to collaborate in the fields of economic development, trade, investment and people exchange with a view to bolstering mutual understanding. — VNS
