NA Party Committee casts confidence vote

HA NOI (VNS) — National Assembly Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu topped a high-confidence vote in the first-ever for the assembly's key Party Committee members, according to results released yesterday.

Parliament members voted on 57 leading positions in the assembly's Party Committee. After Luu, who earned high-confidence marks from 93.16 per cent of voters, Vice NA Chairman Huynh Ngoc Son got high confidence from 108 out of 117, or 92.31 per cent. Truong Thi Mai, chairwoman of the Committee for Social Affairs, followed him with 89.74 per cent and Nguyen Kim Khoa, chairman of the Committee for Defence earned 89.74 per cent. Tran Van Hang, chairman of the Committee for External Relations, earned 87.18 per cent.

Subject to the vote were vice NA chairpersons who are not members of the Politburo or the Party Central Committee's Secretariat; chairpersons and vice chairpersons of the NA's Ethnic Council; heads and deputy heads of NA committees; and heads of the NA Standing Committee's institutes.

Vice NA chairpersons who are members of the Politburo and the Party Central Committee's Secretariat will undergo a different vote of confidence to be conducted by the Party Central Committee.

There are three levels of confidence: high confidence, confidence and low confidence.

The vote will be implemented regularly in the third year of the NA's Party Committee's five-year tenure. — VNS
