HCM CITY (VNS) — Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), received the visiting Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, Admiral Harry Harris, yesterday in Ha Noi.
The host said that Viet Nam treasured its comprehensive co-operation with the US in various fields, pointing to naval co-ordination as one of the highlights of the country's defence ties.
He expressed hope that the Vietnamese and US naval forces would develop in an effective and practical manner, contributing to fostering the two countries' defence relations.
Congratulating the VPA on its 70th founding anniversary (December 22, 1944), Harry Harris suggested Viet Nam create conditions for the US to bring more naval ships to the country next year, thus strengthening collaboration between both sides. — VNS
