Defence Minister greets Ukrainian vets, RoK Ambassador

HA NOI (VNS) — Minister of Defence General Phung Quang Thanh hosted a reception in Ha Noi yesterday for Ukrainian veterans who assisted Viet Nam during the war of resistance.

He spoke highly of the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Ukraine and suggested that the veterans continue to share their valuable experiences with Vietnamese officers in order to promote mutual understanding.

The Ukrainian veterans, visiting the country to join celebrations for the 70th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army, said they admired Viet Nam for its nation-building and defence achievements.

The same day, General Thanh hosted a reception for Jun Dae Joo, ambassador of the Republic of Korea (RoK) to Viet Nam. He expressed his hope that the ambassador would serve as a bridge between the nations and contribute to further strengthening of bilateral ties, including defence co-operation.

The diplomat said that the Rok has always treasured its strategic co-operation with Viet Nam and would give prime importance to defence affiliation.

He pledged to do his utmost to foster bilateral ties during his tenure in Viet Nam. — VNS
