HA NOI (VNS) — Hungarian President Ader Janos has arrived in Ha Noi for a State visit at the invitation of President Truong Tan Sang.

Janos was accompanied by his wife, Herczegh Anita; Hungary's Ambassador to Viet Nam, Torda Eszter; and other senior officials.

Viet Nam and Hungary established diplomatic ties in 1950. The central European nation later provided Viet Nam with valuable support for its national construction and defence.

Political relations between the two countries have been heightened in recent times through the exchange of high-level visits.

Hungary attaches special importance to expanding relations with Viet Nam as part of its Look East Policy.

Viet Nam's economic ties to Hungary have progressed. Two-way trade in 2013 hit US$148 million, and in the first eight months of this year, earnings reached $113.5 million. Viet Nam sells mostly electronics, wood and aquatic products to Hungary, while importing machinery, equipment, pharmaceuticals and animal feed.

Hungary operates 12 FDI projects in Viet Nam with a total registered capital of $47.3 million. It has committed to continue to give development assistance to Viet Nam. — VNS
