HA NOI (VNS) — Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told Chairman of the Management Board of Russia's Gazprom Neft Company A. Dyukov that Viet Nam always backed co-operation between the firm and PetroVietnam.

During a reception for Dyukov yesterday, the Government leader said he discussed bilateral oil and gas co-operation with his Russian counterpart Medvedev on the sidelines of the 25th ASEAN Summit in Myanmar, which recently wrapped up. They agreed to support joint projects of the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and Gazprom Neft.

PM Dung proposed that documents on a governmental agreement on oil and gas co-operation projects be finalised so that the deal could be signed during Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's upcoming visit to Russia. The PM also expressed hope that Gazprom Neft would continue expanding its investment in Viet Nam.

Dyukov noted that along with its commitment to ensuring the supply of crude oil for the expanded Dung Quat Refinery, Gazprom Neft was working with PetroVietnam on another deal to exploit a new oil field in Russia with an estimated reserve of 140 million tonnes. — VNS
