HAVANA (VNS) — The communist parties of Viet Nam and Cuba focused on updating socio-economic models in Cuba and the doi moi (renewal) in Viet Nam on Monday during their second theory seminar in Havana.
The head of the Cuban delegation, Valdes Mesa, a Politburo member and vice president of the State Council, said the seminar would help the two countries share theoretical and practical viewpoints, and enhance their roles in perfecting socialist governance.
The Communist Party of Cuba has kept economic development its key goal since its sixth congress in 2011, Mesa said. The congress adopted social and economic guidelines that set out a roadmap for updating the socialist socio-economic development model.
Meanwhile, the head of the Vietnamese delegation, Tran Quoc Vuong, secretary of the Party Central Committee and office chief of the Party Central Committee, presented an overview of the nearly 30 years of the doi moi cause, which was initiated by the Communist Party of Viet Nam at its 6th National Congress in 1986. — VNS
