Viet Nam, Belarus up military ties

HA NOI (VNS) — Viet Nam and Belarus have decided to co-operate on the training of military personnel with a focus on political ideology.

The agreement was reached during talks between the Head of the General Department of Politics in the Viet Nam People's Army, Senior Lieutenant General Ngo Xuan Lich, and Chief of the Main Directorate of Ideological Work under the Belarusian Defence Ministry, Major General Gura Aleksandr Nikolaevich in Ha Noi yesterday.

They also agreed to share experiences in national security and protection, as well as social and health insurance coverage for military people.

In a meeting with Gura Nikolaevich, Defence Minister General Phung Quang Thanh said Viet Nam held Belarus' goodwill towards co-operation on military technical matters in high regards.

Nikolaevich said he hoped both armies continued to fulfill commitments and agreements.

The guest's six-day visit to Viet Nam lasts until October 12. — VNS
