HA NOI (VNS) — Leading news agencies from Viet Nam and Cuba yesterday pledged to step up exchange of information as well as co-operation in other areas.
The pledge was made in talks held by Viet Nam News Agency (VNA) General Director Nguyen Duc Loi with visiting Prensa Latina President Luis Enrique Gonzales Acosta and his entourage.
Loi thanked the Cuban agency for its cooperation, support and assistance for the VNA representative office in Havana, especially through the provision of daily bulletins as well as access to official and important information sources.
Prensa Latina has annually sent its experts to help VNA's Department for Foreign News Services improve its Spanish bulletin and train sub-editors, he said.
Emphasising the effective collaboration between the two national news agencies, Acosta expressed his wish that the two sides increase meetings and exchanges in the coming months and years.
Also yesterday, the Cuban delegation was received by Permanent Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam Journalists Association, Ha Minh Hue.
Hue said he hopes the journalists' associations of Viet Nam and Cuba will soon sign a memorandum of understanding on co-operation in press activities while increasing exchange visits by delegations to strengthen mutual understanding. — VNS
