PARIS (VNS) — Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Khanh Hai held a meeting with National Secretary of the French Communist Party (PCF) Pierre Laurent on September 11 during his working visit to France.
Hai highly valued the efforts of Viet Nam and France to jointly organise events on culture, the arts and the economy, which have greatlycontributed to the success of the 2014 Year of Viet Nam in France .
He stated that Viet Nam has always regarded France as a key market for its tourism sector, and acknowledged the progress already made in the field.
Deputy Minister Hai also thanked the French side for assisting Viet Nam in developing culture, tourism and sports in the past. He said he hoped France would provide Viet Nam further support in these areas in the future, particularly with regard to promoting Vovinam – Viet Nam 's traditional martial art – to the world.
Laurent lauded Viet Nam 's participation in the Festival of Humanity organised by PCF's L'Humanié newspaper as an honourable guest.
He said France was keen to boost its tourism partnership with Viet Nam. The country implemented a number of cooperation projects with Vietnamese travel agencies and airlines, benefitting both sides, he noted.
The meeting was followed by the launch of "Business Space", covering 20,000 square metres of La Courneuve Park, which provides Vietnamese and French enterprises an opportunity to network.
According to Le Trung Dung, an official from the Centre of Vietnamese Culture in France , Viet Nam 's tourism potential and cultural heritage are being showcased in the 300 square metres Viet Nam House contained in the Business Space.
In addition to the Viet Nam Administration of Tourism (VAT) and the Centre of Vietnamese Culture in France, four domestic travel agents - SaigonTourist, Vietravel, Tourgate and La Palanche - participated in the event, he said.
Head of VAT Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong said the administration's display of Viet Nam 's culture and coastal tourism was amongst the highlights exhibited at the Viet Nam House.
The event was a good chance for Vietnam to promote tourism and boost cooperation between Viet Nam and France in this field, she said.—VNA/VNS
