HA NOI (VNS)— National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung expressed hopes that Hong Xiaoyong, the new Chinese ambassador to Viet Nam, would use his tour of duty to boost comprehensive co-operation between the parties, states and peoples of the two countries.

At the reception held for the ambassador yesterday, Hung affirmed that the Party, State and people of Viet Nam attached great importance to its ties of friendship, neighbourliness and comprehensive co-operation with China.

He asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to the National People's Congress Chairman Zhang Dejiang and extend the invitation for him to attend the 132nd Assembly of the International Parliamentary Union in the capital city in 2015.

On relations between Viet Nam and China, Hung said that in the face of disputes in the East Sea, the recent China visit of the Party General Secretary's special envoy, Politburo member Le Hong Anh, had contributed to the consolidation of mutual trust and the development of co-operation in the spirit of the common vision of the two countries' leaders.

The Chairman expressed hopes that the two countries would continue to foster collaboration in all areas and avoid further complicating the situation. All disputes should be solved in the spirit of comradeship and fraternity, Hung added.

For his part, the Chinese ambassador said he would do his utmost to ensure that the strategic partnership and comprehensive co-operation between Viet Nam and China would continue to develop in the interest of both countries.

He agreed that Anh's recent visit to China had played an important role in boosting bilateral co-operation between China and Viet Nam on common issues and in promoting peace, stability and prosperity in the region. — VNS
