HA NOI (VNS)— Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong yesterday received a visiting delegation from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and expressed his pleasure at the flourishing development of Viet Nam-China ties.
At the reception for the delegation led by Hu Chunhua, CPC Politburo member and Secretary of the Guangdong Party Committee, Trong highlighted the outcomes of economic and trade co-operation between Guangdong and Viet Nam's localities, voicing his hope that the visit would enhance exchanges between the two sides.
Hu said that the Party, Government and people of China always attached importance to and hoped to expand traditional friendship and strategic co-operatiion, pledging to further the collaboration.
The same day, President Truong Tan Sang held a reception for the delegation.
The State leader said Viet Nam would create favourable conditions for investors from Guangdong and China with the aim of bringing trade turnover between the Chinese province and Vietnamese localities to US$25 billion.
Hu said he hoped the two countries would continue to increase trading activities to a height of $100 billion.
Earlier, Politburo member and Hanoi municipal Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi held talks with the delegation, discussing orientations for co-operation between Guangdong and Ha Noi and Viet Nam.

Economic agreements valued at more than $200 million and covering agricultural products, telecoms, timber products, and investment have been signed between Vietnamese businesses and China's Guangdong Province.
The agreements were part of the seminar on trade and economic co-operation between Viet Nam and Guangdong Province to mark a visit by a delegation from the Communist Party of China led by Politburo member Hu Chunhua, who is also the secretary of the Guangdong Province.
Speaking at the seminar, deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh praised bilateral co-operation in the field of trade and economic co-operation and said it continued to play an important role in the partnership between the two countries.
The Deputy PM was optimistic that the seminar would enhance trade relations between both sides, and help in increasing bilateral trade turnover to $60 billion by 2015 and minimising Viet Nam's trade deficit with China.

Minh said that although the world economy continued to face numerous challenges, the two-way trade between Viet Nam and China grew 30 per cent in the past decade. This was a clear indication of cohesive economic co-operation and trade.
Hu Chunhua, Secretary of Guangdong Province, briefed participants on the economic achievements in his province over the years.
Hu proposed accelerating the expansion of economic co-operation and transport infrastructure, agricultural co-operation and fishery, tourism and cultural exchanges.
According to statistics, last year, trade relations between Viet Nam and Guangdong reached $12.3 billion, up 40 per cent compared to 2012. As of February 2014, the trade turnover between the two sides reached $1.71 billion. — VNS
