HA NOI (VNS) — The first Viet Nam–Japan security dialogue at the deputy ministerial level took place in Ha Noi yesterday.

The event was presided over by Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Tran Viet Tan and Deputy Head of the Japan National Police Agency Kanetaka Masahito.

During the dialogue, both sides shared strategic information, professional expertise and ways to increase their ties in a constructive and trustful manner.

We wanted to boost national security and social security, while combating crime, Tan said.

The first Viet Nam–Japan security dialogue at the deputy ministerial level took place in Ha Noi yesterday.

Masahito praised what both sides had achieved together, saying that he believed they would reap more from joint security co-ordination.

Receiving Masahito the same day, Minister of Public Security General Tran Dai Quang noted his ministry delegation's visit to Japan and the visit made by President of the Japan National Public Safety Commission to Viet Nam this year, when the two nations were celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties, saying that such actions had lifted bilateral connections to a new level.

Masahito vowed to take all measures to combat transnational crimes with the ministry as part of the efforts to shore up Viet Nam–Japan co-operation. — VNS
